Special Interest Groups are professional-led cohorts that meet biweekly to discuss, design, and theorize on topics at the frontier of protocol research. Each group is focused on an area that has shown particular promise for advancing the study of protocols. New members are welcome — join the Discord and introduce yourself before attending a session.

  • Formal Protocol Theory Active

    Mathematical and logical modeling of protocols, developing underlying formal sciences with applications across fields including cryptography and healthcare.

  • Memory Research Group Active

    Exploring analogies and metaphors for understanding memory and its relationship to protocols, at the intersection of cognitive science, infrastructure, and institutional design.

  • Protocols for Business Active

    Business applications of protocols, including AI adoption and organizational coordination, with case studies published in Protocolized.

  • Protocol Fiction Active

    An emerging genre exploration group developing protocol fiction — primarily for Protocolized magazine — as a mode of inquiry into how protocols shape worlds.
